The Lviv region is developing new approaches to sustainable tourism as part of the JEWELS TOUR project

On 14 August, a working session with experts was held as part of the European JEWELS TOUR project, which aims to preserve and promote Jewish cultural heritage by developing sustainable tourism.
The project brings together partners from seven European countries, including the Lviv region. It aims to develop practical approaches to preserving cultural heritage and presenting it through contemporary tourism formats.
The working session was a continuation of the exchange of experience with European partners. Following their visit to Lublin, the participants proceeded to adapt the knowledge gained to the needs of the Lviv region.
The meeting focused on dealing with complex chapters of history, including on keeping the memory alive, recounting historical events in a sensitive manner, and making the history accessible to today’s visitors. Particular attention was paid to new ways of presenting cultural and historical heritage.
Participants also discussed the possibility of developing their own sustainable tourism practices in the Lviv region that could subsequently benefit other consortium partners.
Working on this project combines international expertise with local needs and creates solutions that can be put into practice.
