April 2-3 marked the eighth thematic seminar "Water – from the Water Source to the Consumer" organised by the Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region and the Ukrvodokanalekology Association as part of the LIFE-U-SPRINGBOARD project.
The speaker at the event was Tetyana Zazulyak, Head of the Central Research Laboratory and the Laboratory of Industrial Toxicology, and Doctor of Biological Sciences at Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical University.
Over the course of two days, seminar participants had the opportunity to learn more about different types and main characteristics of water consumed by the population. The seminar also addressed the types of drinking water supply sources and the requirements for them.
Moreover, participants gained a deeper understanding of natural and man-made water pollutants, the key requirements for water production methods, and their impact on the physiological integrity of the mineral composition.
A key focus was on the issue of hygiene standards for drinking water in Ukraine in terms of implementing European water directives into national legislation. The discussion also covered the production of drinking and mineral water, including the key stages and the legal and hygiene aspects of running the business.
Participants had the opportunity to ask the speaker questions and share their own experiences and views. The seminar received expert support of Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical University and institutional support of the Lviv Bureau of European Integration.
As a reminder, the LIFE-U-SPRINGBOARD project is implemented under the LIFE Programme, funded by the EU, and aims to promote sustainable water supply, modernise water treatment systems, and strengthen the institutional capacity of water utilities and local authorities.
