BioMedTech: Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region and its partners have signed a memorandum on setting up a science park

On 8 April, the Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region signed an important document, a memorandum, with the Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical University (LNMU), the Institute of Cell Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and Doctor Eleks.

Given the challenges posed by the war and recovery, the biomedical technology sector is becoming one of the top priorities for the Lviv region and Ukraine as a whole.

The establishment of the BioMedTech Science Park aims to launch a strategic partnership between the university, scientific institution, businesses, and regional development entities.

It seeks to set up a modern platform for developing biomedical technologies, medical research, and healthcare innovation, as well as supporting innovative start-ups in the Lviv region.

This collaboration will bring together basic science, medical education, clinical practice, and technology.

The introduction of the BioMedTech science park model will encourage:

• international investment and partnerships;
• cooperation between research institutions, healthcare facilities, and the business sector;
• new opportunities for researchers, doctors, and entrepreneurs;
• integrating Ukrainian networks into European innovation and research networks.

Rehabilitation and prosthetics are of particular priority, as it is precisely in this area that the quality of solutions and the speed at which they are implemented are of critical importance in wartime.

Implementing this initiative will help to establish a modern ecosystem for medical innovation in the Lviv region and strengthen the region’s role as one of the centres for developing biomedical technologies in Ukraine.
