Visit of the professor of 3D technologies in healthcare at Radboud University Medical Center to Lviv National Medical University and Superhumans

Aug. 6, 2025

On August 6, Thomas Maal, professor of 3D technologies in healthcare at Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen (Netherlands), visited Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University and the Superhumans Center.

The purpose of the meetings is to establish cooperation in the field of 3D/VR technologies in education and simulation training, namely:
- the use of XR technologies in complex paediatric operations, in particular special protocols integrated into medical glasses that help surgeons act quickly and confidently even in critical situations;
- the use of 3D technologies in traumatology and cranio-maxillofacial surgery, which allows surgeons to plan operations more accurately, reproduce complex anatomical structures, and significantly reduce the time required for surgical intervention.

One of the first and key steps is the training of specialists, which requires the creation of a digital educational environment for students at the Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University. This will allow future doctors to gain access to advanced technologies and practical experience while still in training, thereby improving the level of training and competitiveness of graduates.
