A bus tour entitled By the Jewish literature traces in Lviv region marked the journey through places associated with the Jewish literary heritage of the Lviv region

Nov. 9, 2025

On 9 November, on International Day Against Fascism and Anti-Semitism, a bus tour entitled By the Jewish literature traces in Lviv region marked the journey through places associated with the Jewish literary heritage of the Lviv region.

The route passed through Zhovkva and Drohobych, cities in which the histories of Jewish printers, writers, and authors are intertwined. In Zhovkva, participants listened to stories about the lives of Jewish shtetls, printers and writers, read excerpts from their works, and reflected on how events of the past resonate with the present. In Drohobych, they visited the Bruno Schulz and His City exhibition, saw the artist’s authentic frescoes, walked through the city streets, getting to know the city, and visited the synagogue.

Such initiatives help not only to preserve the memory of the multicultural past, but also to experience the atmosphere of the multicultural Lviv region, where memory, dialogue, and openness form the basis of the present.

The event was organized by the Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region in partnership with the Lemberik NGO and the Hased-Arieh All-Ukrainian Jewish Charitable Foundation as part of the Cities Embracing Jewish Heritage programme, jointly implemented by Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) and AEPJ and supported by Kiriaty Foundation Int.

The tour took place as part of the European Days of Jewish Culture festival. We sincerely thank our partners who are creating a vibrant culture together: a culture of dialogue, mutual respect, and shared experience.

As a reminder, the Agency is implementing the JEWELS TOUR Interreg Europe project, which aims to valorise and promote Jewish cultural heritage as part of the multicultural European landscape, and which became the basis for the literary tour.
