On 27 August, the Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region, in cooperation with the civil association The League of the Strong, held a training session entitled Monitoring Physical Environments for Compliance with Inclusivity Requirements: Algorithm, Tools, Reporting for asset holders of social infrastructure facilities (schools, kindergartens, hospitals, administrative service centres, and cultural and sports facilities) and active representatives of civil society involved in the issues of accessibility and urban planning.
The event was held as part of the UNDP project Civil Society and Youth Support with financial assistance from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The training aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity and competence in implementing the 2030 National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine by teaching them how to effectively monitor and assess the degree of accessibility of physical environments.
The practical part allowed participants to assess the accessibility of the selected facilities: the Municipal People’s House in Pustomyty, the Lviv Geriatric Nursing Home, and the Lviv Regional Oncology Treatment and Diagnostic Centre. This enabled them not only to apply the knowledge they had acquired, but also to obtain specific recommendations for further work.
We are confident that the practical skills and recommendations gained by the participants will help our region take another step towards creating a barrier-free space accessible to all. We are grateful to everyone present for their active participation and commitment to making our world more inclusive!
