Ssmart specialisation and twin transition skills in the Lviv region

On 17 December, the Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region held a stakeholder meeting as part of the SKYLA Interreg Europe project on the topic of smart specialisation and twin transition skills in the Lviv region.

The event featured the presentation of research findings by the State Institution “Institute of Regional Research named after M.I. Dolishniy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” led by Director, Doctor of Economics Taras Vasyltsiv and Doctor of Economics Olga Mulska, who are providing expert support for the project’s implementation. The results presented covered:
- institutional partnerships between vocational education institutions, businesses, and authorities, and possible forms of cooperation;
- the adaptation of educational programmes and the teaching process at vocational education institutions to the requirements of the labour market;
- employment of graduates after completing vocational education; - major barriers in vocational education;
- the willingness of businesses to engage in the practical training of students;
- the role of business in promoting vocational education in the region.

Barriers to the development of institutional cooperation between businesses and the vocational education system, as well as the strategic objectives of such partnerships, were a separate aspect of the discussion.

The event brought together representatives of the authorities, scientific institutions, clusters, and public organisations. Participants in the event shared practical comments and suggestions that will constitute the basis for further work to align the needs of the labour market, education, and regional development.
