The inaugural meeting of the BioMedTech Science Park founders was held in Lviv. During the event, the participants signed the founding documents and approved the statute necessary for state registration and the start of the park’s operations.

The park is founded by the Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical University (LNMU), the Institute of Cell Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor Eleks, and the Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region. The science park’s founding documents and statute were signed by the heads of the founding organisations: Orest Chemerys, Rector of the Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical University, Andriy Sybirnyi, Director of the Institute of Cell Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Inna Shymkiv, CEO of Doctor Eleks, and Iryna Tymechko, Acting Director of the Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region.

The science park is established to promote the development of biomedical technologies, medical research and healthcare innovation. Its main tasks include supporting innovative projects and start-ups, putting scientific research into practice, developing international partnerships, and attracting investment.

Particular attention will be paid to the development of solutions in medical technology, digital healthcare, and rehabilitation. The initiative’s participants also view the science park as a platform for collaboration between research institutions, healthcare organisations, the business sector, and international partners.

The next step is to present the project at the Ukraine Recovery Conference, taking place on 25–26 June in Gdańsk. This event will showcase the science park’s potential and opportunities for international cooperation in biomedical innovation.

“For the Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region, participating in the creation of the BioMedTech Science Park is an investment in the region’s future. We strive to create an effective platform that will bring together science, medicine, businesses, and international partners to develop innovative healthcare solutions. We are convinced that such cooperation will help to foster new projects, attract investment, and integrate the Lviv region into the European innovation landscape», said Iryna Tymechko, Acting Director of the Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region.

The establishment of BioMedTech will be another step towards the development of an innovative ecosystem in the Lviv region and will strengthen the region’s position as one of the centres for medical and biotechnological innovation in Ukraine.
