The Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region is implementing the Resilience of the Institutional Capacity of International Territorial Cooperation Entities and Participants in Lviv Region project as part of the UCORD.
Today, we would like to outline what international territorial cooperation is, and who its entities and participants are, in accordance with the relevant legislation.
The Law states that international territorial cooperation is a set of relationships aimed at establishing and strengthening economic, social, scientific, technical, environmental, cultural, and other ties between entities and participants in such relationships in Ukraine and their counterparts in other countries.
These relationships are conducted within the scope of competence defined by national legislation and international treaties of Ukraine, the binding nature of which has been approved by the Verhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The entities include:
•local executive authorities;
•the authorities of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea;
•local governments of Ukraine and/or their associations.
Entities interact with the relevant foreign authorities, local governments, and/or their associations.
Meanwhile, the participants include:
•legal entities and individuals;
•associations of local authorities and their alliances;
•other civil society organisations and other individuals participating in international territorial cooperation within the scope of their interests and rights as defined by Law.
