On 6 November, Iryna Tymechko, Acting Director of the Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region joined the roundtable discussion Key Aspects of Regional Policy on the Path to European Integration held by the Verhovna Rada Committee on Organisation of State Power, Local Governance, Regional Development, and Urban Planning.
Participants discussed international experience, in particular OECD practices, in building institutional capacity in the use of EU funds and programmes, as well as Ukrainian examples of how RDAs are implementing European approaches to strategic planning, partnership development, and project implementation.
Institutional, legislative, and policy measures to strengthen the capacity of regional state (military) administrations and regional development agencies to attract future EU and donor funds at the regional level were another important focus of the discussion.
The event served as a platform for dialogue on strengthening regions in effective planning, management, and use of EU funds and donor support.
The event was supported by the Swiss-Ukrainian project Ukraine’s Cohesion and Regional Development (UCORD).
