Nov. 21, 2025
From 19 to 21 November, the Head of the LNMU-RDA Project Office took part in the Danish EU Presidency High-Level Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance at the invitation of the Danish AMR Alliance and the European University Hospital Alliance.
Yulian Konechnyi presented a report on the experience of Ukraine and Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical University (LNMU) in combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in wartime, with a particular focus on treating infections in mine-blast injuries suffered by civilians and military personnel.
As AMR is a matter of biological safety, overcoming this threat requires a comprehensive One Health-based approach, involving a wide range of stakeholders, including the medical community, patient organisations, researchers, and policymakers.
The relevance of the report and the importance of Ukraine’s experience were emphasised by Danish Minister for Health Sophie Løhde, Swedish Minister for Social Affairs and Public Health Jakob Forssmed, and Member of the European Parliament Stine Bosse.
The visit also included a meeting with Theresa Hogenhaug, Sujith J Chandy, and Nandini Sreenivasan at the International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS) to discuss further support for Ukraine and the development of joint initiatives.
We would like to thank our partners for their cooperation and continuous support!
