LIFE-U-SPRINGBOARD: fourth professional thematic seminar «Prospects for the Development of Drinking Water Monitoring and Quality Control in Accordance with EU Requirements«

On 18-19 December, the fourth professional thematic seminar entitled Prospects for the Development of Drinking Water Monitoring and Quality Control in Accordance with EU Requirements was organised by the Regional Development Agency of Lviv Region as part of the LIFE-U-SPRINGBOARD project.

The fourth seminar focused on:

– approaches to monitoring drinking water quality in the European Union;

– challenges of laboratory control of water quality at water utility companies and practical ways to address them;

– Types and tasks of drinking water quality monitoring in Ukraine, organisational issues, development prospects, and possible solutions.

The event provided an opportunity for representatives of water utilities, community, and the experts to consider, among other things:

— risks of water terrorism and water supply security;

— terminology and requirements of EU directives and national standards;

— international experience;

— risk approach and technological capabilities of water utilities;

— methods and tools for water quality control in modern conditions.

As a reminder, the LIFE-U-SPRINGBOARD project is implemented under the LIFE Programme and aims to promote sustainable water supply, modernise water treatment systems, and strengthen the institutional capacity of water utilities and local authorities.
