Keepers of Heritage Catalogue

This guidebook offers an insight into the Lviv region through the lens of its multicultural history. The focus is on urban and rural environments shaped by the long-term coexistence of different ethnic groups and communities, particularly those of Christian and Jewish traditions.

The catalogue has three main components:

1. Towns and villages of Lviv region – architectural and artistic monuments preserved there. Of the countless sites, we focused on specific ones that are impressive for their history.
2. Personalities – people who lived and worked in these towns.
3. Stories – quotations from texts describing them.

The list of cities mentioned in the catalogue includes Boryslav, Velyki Mosty, Dobromyl, Zhovkva, Zhuravno, Rozdil, and many others.

Architecture, historical locations, literary descriptions, and local narratives are considered as carriers of connections that have been formed over centuries between people, locations, and cultural spaces.

We would like to thank the Heritage Keepers who helped us create this catalogue. These are people who preserve, pass on, and nurture the memory of cultural heritage. A complete list of these persons can be found at the end of our catalogue. They ensured that no important site or name disappeared and passed on their knowledge to us.
